Both eastbound lanes of a portion of U.S. 278 on Hilton Head Island will be closed temporarily Saturday and Sunday.

The closures, which are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, will allow crews to remove hazardous trees and limbs from the roadway near the Fresh Market Shoppes, according to a town news release.

Traffic will be controlled through the work zones via signs and traffic control devices, the release said.

Drivers are asked to use extra caution when approaching the work zones.
