Bluffton man ID'd in deadly Talmadge Bridge crash
A Bluffton man has been named as the victim of a three-vehicle crash on the Talmadge Bridge on Monday afternoon.
Randy Evegan, 46, died at the scene around 12:15 p.m., according to a Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police news release.
The crash happened after the driver of a stalled semi-truck stopped in the northbound lane on the bridge. A second semi-truck stopped behind the stalled vehicle to offer assistance.
A BMW 325I driven by Evegan in the northbound lane struck the back of one of the semi-trucks, the release said.
The impact pushed that truck into the rear of the stalled truck.
Investigators believe speed may have been a factor in the collision.
The crash is being investigated by Savannah-Chatham County Metropolitan Police.
