Friends of Hunting Island hosting obstacle course Saturday to teach children about sea turtles

The Friends of Hunting Island will hold an obstacle course and educational event Saturday at Dataw Island to help children learn about sea turtles, according to a news release from the group's Sea Turtle Conservation Project.

Children will be able to make their way through an obstacle course teaching them about the challenges sea turtle hatchlings face from the time they hatch until they reach the Sargasso Sea, the release said. The event will be held in conjunction with the Habitat for Humanity 2016 Resolution 5K Saturday on Dataw Island.

On-site registration will begin at 8:45 a.m. Saturday. The event begins at 9 a.m

To pre-register, email turtlesurvivalchallenge@gmail.com and provide the name and age of each child who will be participating, the name of the parent, and an email address, the release said.
