How To for Dec. 6, 2015: 'Mary Poppins' takes flight, elevates holiday season
Musical theater lovers, your holiday gift awaits at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina's regional premiere of Disney and Cameron MacIntosh's "Mary Poppins."
Experience the story of the world's most beloved nanny through familiar songs and wonderful dance numbers, beginning Wednesday and running through New Year's Eve. Based on P.L. Travers' children's books and one of the best-loved movies of all time, the musical played on Broadway for more than six years.
MacIntosh is a British theatrical producer whose credits include "Les Misèrables," "The Phantom of the Opera," "Oliver!" and "Miss Saigon" His production of "Mary Poppins" is sure to be a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious adventure!

SATURDAY
Bring joy to the holidays by attending a concert featuring St. Helena Island native Candice Glover. The "American Idol" winner will perform "A Christmas Gospel Concert" at the Battery Creek High School Performing Arts Center, 1 Blue Dolphin Drive in Beaufort.
The Battery Creek High School choir and the MLK community choir will add to a great night of music. The show begins at 5 p.m.
Proceeds benefit the Thumbs Up Children's Educational Center.
Tickets are $35 for general admission and $75 for VIP (reserved seating and a Friday reception at Dataw Island Club.)

SUNDAY
Treat yourself to the First Presbyterian of Hilton Head Island's annual gift to the community at the church's production of the Christmas portion of Handel's Messiah.
Directed by S. Russell Floyd and accompanied by Chad Martin, the show features the church's community choir, solo performances and a chamber orchestra.
The concert is at 5 p.m. at the church, 540 William Hilton Parkway. Admission is free.

It's the perfect time of year to take a walking tour at the Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge. Tours are offered through the Coastal Discovery Museum from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Explore the Salt Marsh, the Maritime Forest and a fresh water lagoon and learn about the island's rich cultural history. The tour includes a 1.5-mile round trip of walking and meets at the wildlife refuge.
