This beach on Hilton Head’s north end is getting improvements. Here’s what and where

Tourists from Hilton Head’s Port Royal Village will have an easier and safer time walking to Islanders Beach Park this spring.

A new 12-foot-wide pathway through the center of the park’s parking area will help all visitors, but Port Royal Village is across the street.

The town is set to demolish the old pathway and install new signs and crosswalk markings. The town will also build a raised crosswalk on Folly Field Road.

The town budgeted $1.65 million for the improvements, which also may include a new playground and parking updates. Construction is slated to begin the week of Feb. 19 and end April 15 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

During the project, the town is set to place signs to guide motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
