‘Gene Machine’ to visit to Beaufort schools

The Greenwood Genetic Center continues its month-long celebration of DNA Day 2016 with visits to Bolden Middle School and Beaufort High School April 19 and April 20.

The event features the Gene Machine, a mobile science lab that allows students to participate in hands-on activities using state-of-the-art equipment. The event introduces students to career opportunities in genetics and biotechnology.

The April 19 event is from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m. at Bolden Middle School parking lot 2, Albacore Street, Beaufort.

The April 20 event is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Beaufort High School parking lot, 84 Sea island Parkway.

The Greenwood Genetic Center is a nonprofit organization advancing the field of medical genetics and caring for families impacted by genetic disease and birth defects.
