May River Montessori in Bluffton to gain second story
Plans are underway for a second-floor addition to May River Montessori in Bluffton, Bluffton Today reports.
The project to add a second floor will create nearly 1,500 square feet of classroom space in the school at 60 Calhoun Street in Old Town Bluffton. That area will do away with the need to use a converted utility building behind the main school building as a classroom, according to Bluffton Today.
Attempts to reach May River Montessori officials were unsuccessful Tuesday morning, as the school is on spring break this week.
The project reportedly is undergoing further review by the town’s historic preservation review committee and the development review committee, but is on track to be completed over the summer.
The former utility building will be converted into a multi-purpose space, project architect James Atkins told the Bluffton paper.
