CARE hosting final sales-tax listening tour session in Bluffton

Citizens Advocating Responsible Education is hosting its third and final listening tour event tonight on the Beaufort County school board’s possible 1 percent, educational sales tax referendum.

The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Caddy’s in the Rose Hill Clubhouse, 4 Clubhouse Drive, Bluffton.

CARE plans to relay the feedback it receives from residents to the school board, which will decide by April 1 whether to pursue a 1 percent sales tax increase to pay for new schools and other capital improvements over the next 10 years.

If the board approves of a referendum, the question would go to voters on the November ballot.
