Ukuleles coming to local classrooms

A grant from the CMA Foundation will help teachers in Beaufort and Jasper counties incorporate ukuleles into their daily lessons.

The grant, awarded to the nonprofit Guitars in the Classroom, will go toward training teachers to play the ukelele and incorporate the music into their English, math, science and social studies lessons.

Kala Music has donated ukuleles for students and teachers at Hilton Head Island School for the Creative Arts and Hardeeville Elementary School.
