DAR chapter to honor Holy Trinity students

Four students from Holy Trinity Classical Christian School in Beaufort will be recognized this week as local winners of the American History Essay Contest.

The students will be recognized at the Thomas Heyward, Jr. chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution annual award ceremony at First Presbyterian Church, 1201 North St., at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 11.

The chapter selected one winner per grade level:

  • Charlotte Grace Price, fifth grade
  • Mary Elinor Chumney, sixth grade
  • Maley Grace Baisch, seventh grade
  • Sarah Grace Lawrence, eighth grade
  • Each student submitted essays based on the contest's prompt to "describe a colonial family's discussion about the new Stamp Act and what role it played in organizing the colonists against the British King and Parliament."
