Doug Langhals to replace Daniel Wesche at end of school year

Hilton Head Christian Academy has appointed its campus pastor, Doug Langhals, as the new head of school.

Langhals, who also serves as the golf coach, will replace the current head of school, Daniel Wesche, at the end of the school year. The board announced the appointment Wednesday following a four-month search.

Wesche, who replaced outgoing headmaster Matthew Skinner, will leave his post as acting director after about three years.

The K-12, college preparatory school -- which has about 385 students -- will hold a meet and greet for Langhals at 6:30 p.m. today in the performing arts center of the school at 55 Gardner Drive, Hilton Head Island.

Langhals has also served as a youth pastor and ruling elder at Hilton Head Presbyterian Church and director of youth ministries at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Columbia. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Bible teaching from Columbia International University and a master's degree in theological studies from the Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte.

Langhals has worked at Hilton Head Christian Academy for 12 years, serving as a Bible teacher, campus pastor and administrator.

"In these various roles I have loved being able to see our students and families embrace the vision of the school, 'To know Christ and to make Him known,'" Langhals said in a statement to parents.

"I am incredibly excited to step into this new role because of the potential I see at this school."
