Jasper County schools investigating possible fraud
The Jasper County School board plans to fire a certified employee for allegedly misusing about $54,000 in public money, according to the Jasper County Sun Times.
The paper reports that the school board voted Wednesday to approve a notice of intent to discharge the employee, though the employee will still be asked to explain the transaction and may request a closed-door meeting with the board.
More information on the possible misuse of public funds was not available Sunday.
"This is a personnel matter that is confidential at this point," district spokesman John Williams told the Sun Times last week.
