Bluffton Self Help keeps first-generation college dream alive
Lana, a native Blufftonian, is attending college but feared she'd have to drop out.
On top of paying for her college expenses, Lana's single mom takes care of her brother who is in high school. Lana had worked all summer but still didn't have enough money to return.
She found out about the Mrs. Ida Martin Education Assistance program created by Bluffton Self Help for first-generation students and applied. She qualified for the program and was able to continue attending college.
Bluffton Self Help provides a broad range of social services for poor working families, the disabled, sick and elderly.
