A fifth-grader at B. Gale Wilson Elementary School in Fairfield, Calif., is seeking information about South Carolina from the state's residents for a class project. BATTERY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL

  • The athletics department will celebrate Senior Parents' Night and Alumni Night at the football game against North Charleston on Oct. 17. Parents of senior cheerleaders and football players can attend for free and will be honored at half-time. Alumni are encouraged to attend and tailgate before the game.   • Spirit Night will be 5:30 p.m.-close Oct. 7 at Fat Patties. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the school's theater department.

  • The Zonta Induction Ceremony will be at 8 a.m. Oct. 10 in the middle school gym. New officers and members will be inducted into the Z-Club, which works to promote the status of women worldwide.

    Helping Hands

  • The next food pantry date is 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 30. Boxes of food will be available on a first come, first served basis.
  • The Friday Sewing Club is seeking donations of sewing materials, including sewing machines, scissors, thread, pins, needles and fabric. Shoeboxes in good condition are also needed for sewing kits.
