Want free books every month for your child? Here’s how to get them in Beaufort Co.

Bluffton’s Lowcountry Community Church is partnering with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that gives free books every month to children from birth to their fifth birthday.

“This is our Christmas gift to our community — and it’s the gift that keeps on giving,” LCC Executive Pastor Jason Best said in a press release.

“Our members have made it clear they have a heart for children and education. This seems like a win-win for all.”

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was launched in 1995 and has sent more than 160 million free books to children in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and the Republic of Ireland.

Parton has said that she created the program in honor of her father, who she called “the smartest man I have ever known, but I know in my heart his inability to read probably kept him from fulfilling all of his dreams.”

To sign up for the program, parents can register at imaginationlibrary.com. They’ll start receiving books within 90 days.
