Beaufort County school bus driver gets stuck in the mud. How? Ask these middle-schoolers
A Beaufort County school bus driver had a rough commute Tuesday morning.
A few students misbehaving in their seats prompted the driver to pull over onto the side of the road, district spokesman Jim Foster said.
After addressing the student scuffle, the driver tried to resume the route to Whale Branch Middle, he said.
However, the wheels got stuck in the mud, according to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
A heavy-duty tow truck was needed to pull the vehicle out, Southern said. No injuries were reported and no wreck report was filed. The bus was parked on the shoulder of African Baptist Church Road near Big Estate Road.
Two buses running routes in the area were called to pick up the 40 students, Foster said, and all made it to school with half an hour to spare.
