5 killed in head-on collision in Pooler, Ga.

A two-vehicle head-on collision killed five people on Interstate 16 in Pooler, Ga., early this morning, Savannah media are reporting.

Three people were in one vehicle and two in the other, according to WTOC.

Fire crews said a westbound vehicle entered the median and hit an eastbound vehicle, killing all five people.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck.

Both eastbound lanes of the interstate and one westbound lane were expected to remain closed until noon June 22.
