In Beaufort, relationship wilts over cut azaleas

Friendship wasn’t exactly in bloom in Beaufort on Friday.

A Beaufort woman discovered the azalea bushes in the corner of her yard had been cut down when she returned to her Cypress Street home Friday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.

The woman confronted her neighbor - who admitted cutting them down - and called Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

In an interview with a deputy, the neighbor said she “did not believe it was a big deal as she had helped cut the bushes back in the past.”

Nevertheless, the neighbor was issued a tresspass notice, but the azalea gardener didn’t want to press charges.
