Man faces felony domestic violence charge after Burton incident
A Varnville man has been charged with South Carolina’s highest level of domestic violence after a Burton incident around 1 a.m. last Thursday.
Arthur Vaughn, 36, faces a charge of domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature — a felony.
The victim was hospitalized with head injuries at Beaufort Memorial Hospital after being struck with a blunt object at a residence in Burton, according to Capt. Bob Bromage of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Vaughn is being held at Beaufort County Detention Center with bail set at $25,000.
The punishment for such a crime can be up to 20 years in prison.
