Bluffton man arrested, faces multiple charges

A Bluffton man with active warrants was arrested Thursday after officers recognized him outside a Walgreens, according to the Bluffton Police Department.

Marvin McNair, 26, was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful carrying of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute. His active warrants included trespassing, driving under a suspended license and habitual traffic offender, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.

Upon arrest, investigators found a cylinder of pills, a bag of pills and hundreds of dollars in cash on McNair, the release said. McNair was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center on Thursday and has since been released on bond.

According to the release, the registered owner of the vehicle McNair had driven to the store said he was unaware the McNair had his vehicle and also didn’t know about the gun that was in the car. He gave investigators permission to search the vehicle and recover the gun for processing.
