Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue responded early Monday morning to a house fire on Cedar Wax Wing Drive in Sea Pines after neighbors reported seeing flames on the exterior of the home.

Fire crews, who arrived on scene just before 5:30 a.m., and found heavy fire on the side and back of the residence, as well as in the attic, according to a Thursday news release from Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue.

The occupants of the home, who were vacationing on the island, “had already been removed (from the home) when we arrived,” Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Joheida Fister said Thursday.

No one was injured and the blaze was contained to a single home, she said.

The fire was under control by about 6:30 a.m.

About half of the home was singed by the fire and there was smoke damage throughout, Fister said.

The specific cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but it appears to have originated outside the home around the pool pump area, she said.

The fire was likely accidental and there is no indication of foul play, she said.

Insurance and Fire and Rescue investigators were at the home Thursday “trying to pin point exactly where the fire came from,” she said.
