Winds, broken tree blamed in death of island woman on Utah zip line

Officials say high winds broke part of tree, which struck and killed a Hilton Head Island woman on a zip line course May 20 at a Utah resort.

Lisa Lambe, 55, was riding a zip line at Sundance Mountain Resort in Sundance, Utah, when the tree broke and fell into her path, according to a news release posted on the Utah County Sheriff’s Office website Friday afternoon.

“Investigators located a tree in close proximity to the zip line that was broken near the top,” the release said. “Investigators recovered evidence from the tree that shows Lambe came into contact with it, which was consistent with her injuries at the scene.”

The Sheriff’s Office says there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

Lambe, who was a pharmacist at CVS on Pope Avenue on Hilton Head, is remembered for her love of the outdoors and travel, and for her role as a mother of three.

“She was incredibly caring, hardworking, beautiful and loved the life on Hilton Head,” her husband, Jack Lambe, said Monday.

She will be laid to rest Saturday in Endicott, N.Y.

Allen Memorial Home in Endicott is directing the service. Rev. Father John Kurgan, pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in nearby Vestal, N.Y. — where Lambe previously lived — will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.

Donations can be made to Vestal Dollar for Scholars, Lisa Yeates Lambe Scholarship, P.O. Box 959, Vestal, NY 13851-0959.
