Two Bluffton 19-year-olds are in custody after a Bluffton restaurant was burglarized Wednesday morning.

Markus Piontek and Bretten Patterson both were charged with second-degree burglary after an employee of the Evan Way Wendy’s found a broken window around 6 a.m. on Wednesday. The restaurant’s manager then noticed an undisclosed amount of money missing from a safe and called the police, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.

The pair confessed to the crime, according to police.

Piontek told investigators he broke a window to the restaurant, climbed inside and opened the back door for Patterson. The two then took the money and left, the release said.

Both were taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center and released after posting bond Thursday, according to the detention center’s website.
