Driver flips pickup while fleeing Bluffton police

A pickup truck driver who fled from police, knocked down a power pole and flipped his vehicle into a marsh Tuesday afternoon will likely face criminal charges, Bluffton Police said.

The male driver allegedly hit two cars around noon in Old Town Bluffton and on Goethe Road and fled both of those scenes, according Joy Nelson, Bluffton Police Department spokeswoman.

Officers were asked to be on the lookout for the truck, and law enforcement attempted to stop the vehicle once it was spotted on Alljoy Road.

The driver went down Myrtle Island Road and took a curve too fast, police said.

He knocked down a power pole and flipped the vehicle into the marsh.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Capt. Randy Hunter of the Bluffton Township Fire District.
