Sun City man: My identity was stolen to buy pricey undies
A Sun City man reported Thursday that his identity was stolen and used to buy more than $200 in underwear from an online retailer, according to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The resident of the Okatie retirement community told law enforcement that he was contacted by his bank Tuesday about suspicious purchases made on his Everbank debit card. The bank reported $235 spent at the online store HisRoom.com and HerRoom.com, a company that predominantly sells underwear, lingerie and loungewear.
The man said he did not make the purchases and suspected someone must have stolen his debit card information.
Law enforcement took a report and told the man to cancel the debit card to prevent more fraudulent purchases and to protect himself from any undie scammers in the future.
