Bluffton man charged after deputies find girlfriend hiding, bloodied
A Bluffton man is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center after deputies found his girlfriend bloody and hiding in a vehicle on Old Miller Road on Wednesday.
Carlos Villatoro, 20, was charged with first-degree domestic violence after someone called the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office to report a domestic violence incident around 3:30 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies arrived to find a blue mini van sitting at the residence with the passenger side door open, a shattered window and a woman inside who said she was Villatoro’s girlfriend.
The woman was lying down on the passenger seat and had “multiple facial injuries,” the report said.
The woman told deputies she and Villatoro had gone to a grocery store where he became jealous when other men looked at her. The pair left the store and Villatoro was verbally abusive toward her on the way back to their residence, the report said.
When they got home, the woman said Villatoro began yelling at her, grabbed a knife and held it to her throat and said, “I am going to kill you,” the report said.
She broke free, ran to the van and locked herself inside.
Villatoro allegedly used a hammer to shatter window before repeatedly hitting her in the face with his fist, the report said.
Deputies searched the property and were unable to located Villatoro. They eventually found him sitting on the porch of a residence down the street.
He was taken to the detention center and is being held on a $25,000 bond.
