Bluffton man arrested on child porn charges
Edwin Aguilar, an 18-year-old Bluffton man, was arrested Wednesday and charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
The S.C. Attorney General's Office Internet Crimes Against Children recently tipped off Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office investigators that “child pornography (was) being uploaded from a computer at a Bluffton residence,” according to a sheriff’s office release.
A search warrant was obtained for Aguilar’s Confederate Avenue residence, where police found “laptop computers, routers, video cameras, several 8mm video cassettes and Aguilar’s mobile telephone,” the release said.
Those devices contained “sexually explicit images of small children or had been used by Aguilar to distribute those and other images via the internet,” according to the release.
Aguilar will be prosecuted by the state attorney general’s office.
He is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
