Sheriff’s Office: Vacation ‘panty raiders’ target Hilton Head store
Two vacationers from New Jersey were arrested Tuesday after trying to shoplift more than $500 in clothing — mostly Calvin Klein bras and underwear — from a Hilton Head Island shop, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report. The incident happened at the Belk on Shelter Cove Lane.
One of the would-be panty raiders told deputies the pair was “down here on vacation and just wanted to do something fun,” according to a police report released Wednesday.
The suspect said she “understood it was the wrong thing to do,” the report said.
The two were given misdemeanor shoplifting charges and a court date next month.
