Hilton Head restaurant bathroom yields snoring man, syringe
Deputies were called to a Hilton Head Island Wendy’s on Thursday after a customer said he found a man passed out with a syringe in the bathroom stall next to him.
The customer told deputies he heard someone snoring in the next stall around 5:30 p.m. at the restaurant on Nature's Way, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
When Hilton Head Fire and Rescue arrived, they were initially unable to treat the man because he had a knife clipped to his waist, the report said.
Deputies were able to secure the weapon and found suspected marijuana in one of the man's pockets along with a plastic spoon with a blue powder substance on it and a syringe cap, the report said.
The man, who was responsive at that point, told deputies the substance was "Roxy," a slang term for Oxycodone, the report said.
He said he had used the syringe to inject himself with the drug, the report said.
He then asked deputies to give him the marijuana back.
No charges have been filed against the man, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center's website, but charges may come following testing of the marijuana, the report said.
