Bluffton man accused of attacking ex-girlfriend’s car, new boyfriend
A Bluffton man was charged with third-degree assault and battery Wednesday after he allegedly shattered his ex-girlfriend's car window and repeatedly punched her boyfriend.
Michael McGuire, 36, was charged after deputies responded to a residence on Pebble Beach Cove around 7:30 a.m. to find the boyfriend's face bloody and battered, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
The victim said he’d arrived to the residence to return his girlfriend's vehicle and that McGuire, who still lived with her, came outside and told him to leave, the report said.
When the man refused, the report said, McGuire went back inside the residence briefly, returned and punched one of the vehicle’s windows, shattering it.
The victim then told deputies McGuire punched him in the face and head five times before he left, the report said.
The victim suffered wounds to his mouth and nose and was treated by EMS at the scene.
Deputies were able to get in touch with McGuire, who said “I'm sorry” over the phone and returned to the residence, the report said.
He was charged and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
He was released the following day.
