Deputies locate missing St. Helena Island man

A St. Helena Island man reported missing by his family was located Wednesday evening, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Lacy Jefferson, 50, of St. Helena Island, was reported missing around 5 p.m. after his family received a message saying that he may want to harm himself, according to the release. Jefferson was found sitting on a bank near the waterway, unharmed.

Jefferson was being taken to shore by marine patrol deputies, the release said.
