Columbus man wanted in Georgia homicide has Hilton Head connection
Authorities said they are hunting for a Columbus man wanted on murder and aggravated assault warrants stemming from a fatal shooting Sunday at the Apple Jax Bar & Lounge in Albany, Ga.
Tony Carter, 40, was in the parking lot outside of the bar when someone fatally shot him once in the upper portion of his body at 1:34 a.m. Sunday, police said.
Officials said Eugene Marcus Grant III, 33, was last seen fleeing the scene at 1303 East Broad Ave. with his girlfriend Ebony Millsaps, who also is wanted for questioning concerning Carter’s death. Grant was driving what appeared to be a silver 2010 Chrysler 300, according to police.
Police noted that Grant is 6-foot-4 and weighs 216 pounds but didn’t provide a description of his 34-year-old girlfriend. Both individuals were living in Columbus, but authorities said they have received information about them residing with a woman on Hilton Head Island.
Grant should be considered armed and dangerous, officials warned the public.
Further details are limited as police continue to investigate the case.
