Armed suspect robs Lady’s Island Dollar General, runs away
Deputies are searching for a man who robbed the Lady’s Island Dollar General at gunpoint Saturday.
A woman in the Sea Island Parkway store called 911 after she saw the man point a black gun at a cashier, take an undisclosed amount of money and run around 8:50 a.m., according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
While on the phone with a dispatcher, the woman went out the back of the store to see which way the man ran.
She told deputies he climbed over a wooden fence at the back of the property before the dispatcher told her to go back inside the store and lock the doors, the report said.
No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect was described as a black male wearing dark clothing and between the ages of 20 and 40.
At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a “beanie” with holes for eyes cut out over his face, the report said.
Deputies searched the area with a dog, but were unable to find the suspect, Capt. Bob Bromage said Monday. The investigation is ongoing.
