Car crash in Sun City lagoon leaves 1 dead

One person is confirmed dead in Sun City after a car crashed into a lagoon near Rainwater Lane early Saturday morning.

The Bluffton Township Fire District, Beaufort County EMS and the Sheriff’s Office dive team were called to the scene around 6:10 a.m. after a 2007 Honda Accord ran off the road into the lagoon, a S.C. Highway Patrol official said.

The car was submerged, and the driver was killed.

The S.C. Highway Patrol is leading an investigation into the crash.
