The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is seeking information about a woman found dead outside of her car 41 years ago.

Hilton Head Island resident Dorothy Kay Olbert, 50, was reported missing by her husband around midnight Feb. 4, 1975, after she did not return to her home following a church meeting, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

She was found lying next to her vehicle near the back gate of Shipyard Plantation. An autopsy revealed she died from blunt force trauma.

Many interviews were conducted and evidence was collected at the scene, but no suspects were ever identified, the release said.

A motive for Olbert's death has yet to be found, and investigators say she had no known enemies.

Information leading to an arrest is eligible for a reward of up to $2,500.

Anyone with information can call Capt. Bob Bromage at 843-255-3402 or email him at robertb@bcgov.net.

Anonymous information can also be given to Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
