Argument, car crash brings arrest of Hilton Head restaurant theft suspects

Two men arguing outside of a vehicle deputies say they drove into a ditch on Hilton Head Island were arrested Monday night when stolen restaurant supplies and equipment were found inside.

Deputies were called to Dillon Road around 11 p.m. near the Rincon Huasteco Mexican Restaurant, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

They found Jacob Bush, 37, who has no known address, and Uriel Mendoza, 45, of Hilton Head Island, outside the vehicle that was filled with stolen items, the release said.

The door to the restaurant's storage room was also open.

Restaurant management confirmed the property inside the vehicle was stolen from the storage room, the release said.

Mendoza drove the vehicle into the ditch as the two fled, the release said.

Both were charged with second-degree burglary and taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
