Hardeeville teen charged with murder of Bluffton man outside Dollar General
A Hardeeville teenager has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a Bluffton man Jan. 3, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.
Kryon Primus was charged Friday with the murder of 29-year-old Jon Kinlaw, who was shot in the chest and killed in the parking lot of the Dollar General on May River Road around 4:15 p.m.
Primus, 17, was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center early Friday morning.
Kinlaw was shot and killed while meeting with Primus. Investigators believe Kinlaw knew Primus and the shooting was not a random act of violence, the release said.
Police Chief Joey Reynolds said in the release the investigation is ongoing and other arrests are expected.
A candlelight vigil Sunday for Kinlaw in the Dollar General parking lot will go on as scheduled, according to community activist Sharon Brown, a cousin of Kinlaw's mother.
Friends and loved ones will gather from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday where he was killed to honor him, Brown said.
"A mother loses her son, a child no longer has a father, a relationship has been broken, and a community is left in disbelief that a shooting in our community has taken the life of someone we know," Brown wrote in an email.
Funeral arrangements by Stiney's Funeral Home of Hardeeville are pending.
Kinlaw's death was Beaufort County's first murder in 2016.
