American Red Cross, Hardeeville Fire Department to install smoke alarms Jan. 9

The American Red Cross and the Hardeeville Fire Department will go door-to-door in neighborhoods around Hardeeville installing smoke alarms Saturday as part of the Red Cross's Home Fire Campaign, according to a news release.

Volunteers and firefighters will go door-to-door from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to teach people how to be prepared for home fires, install smoke alarms and change batteries where needed.

All smoke alarms and batteries will be provided and installed free, the release said.
