Hilton Head house fire doused; no injuries reported
No injuries were reported Sunday after Hilton Head Fire and Rescue responded to a call about smoke inside a residence on Harrogate Drive in Wexford Plantation.
Firefighters arrived at 4:53 a.m. and could see smoke coming from around an outdoor chimney and the home's adjoining roof, according to the fire department's news release.
The fire was confined to an area enclosing the chimney and a small portion of the home's attic space.
The fire was accidental in nature, the release said.
Hilton Head Fire and Rescue reminds residents to clean chimneys on a regular basis and to test smoke detectors monthly.
