Bluffton police are continuing their investigation into Sunday's shooting death of a man outside the May River Road Dollar General and have released photos of the suspect's vehicle.

The male suspect reportedly pulled a gun and shot the victim -- Jon Kinlaw, 29, of Bluffton -- in the chest outside his car in the parking lot around 4:30 p.m., according to Bluffton Police Department spokesperson Joy Nelson.

Kinlaw died while being taken to the hospital, Nelson said.

When asked Monday if investigators had determined a motive or if they believe Kinlaw knew his killer, Nelson said the department is not releasing more information because the investigation is in its preliminary stages.

The department on Monday released seven images of the suspect's vehicle pulling out of the parking lot after the shooting. The vehicle appears to be a dark-colored sedan.

The images of the vehicle were captured by one of the 22 surveillance cameras installed by the department in Old Town in the fall.

"One of the main purposes of the cameras is to allow us to gather information or evidence if a crime is committed. In this case, the pictures have provided the investigators with information they may not have otherwise had access to," Bluffton Police Chief Joey Reynolds, said.

Kinlaw's death is Beaufort County's first homicide of 2016.

Anyone with information on the shooting can call Lt. Joseph Babkiewicz or Sgt. Kelly Heany at 843-706-4560.
