Stolen gun found after bar argument on Hilton Head Island

An argument at a Hilton Head Island bar led to the arrest of a 39-year-old Bluffton man on charges of possessing a stolen gun, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.

Caston Brown approached deputies at about 1:10 a.m. Saturday and asked for assistance with a "heated verbal dispute" he was having with a friend at the bar on Greenwood Drive, according to the report.

Officers later saw Brown remove an item from his pants pocket and place it in a nearby bush, the report said. A loaded .9mm pistol was found in the bushes.

Investigators later determined the gun had been reported stolen from Darlington County, according to the report.

Brown's bond was set at $10,000.
