Bluffton Police Department reaches AED goal

The Bluffton Police Department and the Arrhythmia Alliance has reached the goal of having Automated External Defibrillators in each of its patrol cars.

The portable devices will help officers check heart rhythms and administer electric shocks if needed before an ambulance arrives to increase chances of survival.

The next goal will be to purchase additional AEDs for the Bluffton Township Fire District in order to create a "heartsafe" community, a news release said.
