Beaufort man sought in connection with shooting of former Marine

The Port Royal Police Department is searching for a Beaufort man wanted for the attempted murder of a former Marine on Oct. 5. 



Phillip Ronald Smalls Jr., 23, is also wanted on first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during a violent crime charges.



Investigators have identified him as one of two suspects who allegedly shot and wounded the former Marine during a home invasion, according to Sgt. Joab Dowling 



Smalls is 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.



He is known to frequent Lady's Island, and should be considered armed and dangerous.
