One shot in attempted Bluffton drug deal

A botched drug deal left one man with gunshot wounds in Bluffton late Saturday night, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office reports.

The 23-year-old victim and a friend met with two alleged drug dealers on East Morningside Drive in the Sandy Pointe neighborhood, the agency said. At about 9:30 p.m., an argument ensued and the victim was shot.

The friend drove the victim to Hardeeville, the location of the nearest hospital, and reported the shooting, Capt. Bob Bromage said.

The victim, who is also from Hardeeville, has since been transported to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

The identities of the suspects were unknown to the Sheriff's Office on Sunday, Bromage said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Investigator Cornillus LaVan at 843-255-3427.
