Sheriff's Office: St. Helena remains are that of an adult male

The skeletal remains found Wednesday near Pea Patch Lane on St. Helena Island belong to an adult male, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

The identity of the man and the cause and manner of death has not yet been determined by the Beaufort County Coroner's Office after the autopsy was conducted Thursday, Capt. Bob Bromage said.

The Sheriff's Office Forensic Services Laboratory will attempt to identify the man through DNA analysis, Bromage said.

Anyone with information can call Master Sgt. Brian Chapman at 842-255-3417 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
