Trial begins in 2013 Hilton Head shotgun slaying
The trial of a man charged with the murder of a Hilton Head Island teenager began Monday with jury selection.
Ja'quard Qu'vonte Aiken was charged in January 2013 in the shooting death of 19-year-old Cesar Reyna-Reyna in front of a Marshland Road home.
The day after the shooting, the shotgun used to kill Reyna-Reyna was found in nearby woods, and forensic evidence later linked the weapon to Aiken.
The trial began Monday with jury selection and pre-trial motions, according to the 14th Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone, and will resume Tuesday.
