Hilton Head man arrested in connection with home burglary while owners slept

A Hilton Head Island man was arrested Thursday after allegedly burglarizing a residence as the owners slept inside.

Brett Saunders, 34, was arrested after the Bayberry Lane residence on Hilton Head was broken into Friday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

At the time of the burglary, the residents were asleep while money was stolen from a purse, the report.

He was taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center and awaits a bond hearing.
