Several Bluffton business cited after undercover informant was sold alcohol

Four employees of four separate Bluffton businesses were ticketed for selling alcohol to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office informant who was underage Sept. 24 and 26.

The informant, known only as "Fire" in the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office reports, met with investigators both days and was given money by the department to purchase alcohol from local businesses.

Armed with his identification card, which stated he was underage, the informant was able to purchase alcohol from CVS Pharmacy on Fording Island Road, the Bi-Lo on Burnt Church Road, Walgreens on Okatie Center Boulevard and Big Jim's Liquors on Bluffton Parkway, the reports said.

Each of the cashiers who authorized the purchase were issued a court summons and ticket for sale of liquor to a person under the age of 21, the reports said.
