Golf carts found in Bluffton apartment complex stolen from nearby course

Three golf carts used by a group of juveniles to joyride around a Bluffton neighborhood Sunday were stolen from a nearby golf course, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office spokesman said Monday.

An anonymous caller from the Westbury Park neighborhood reported seeing the juveniles riding around in three golf carts Sunday afternoon, spokesman Capt. Bob Bromage said. The golf carts, later determined to be from the Old Carolina Golf Club down the street from Westbury Park, were later found parked near an apartment building in the Estate at Westbury complex, Bromage said.

The carts were apparently taken sometime after Friday night, when a representative from the business said the carts were last seen. Four juveniles, all in their early teens, were identified in the thefts of the carts, Bromage said.

Each of the golf carts were valued at $2,000. The golf club is considering whether to press charges against the juveniles involved, Bromage said.
