Hilton Head pool-side photos bring headlock, punch to face
A beach club employee was punched by a woman's fiance after allegedly taking pictures of her and other women in their swimsuits Sunday on Hilton Head Island, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
The Sheriff's Office was called to Grasslawn Avenue around 1 p.m. after an employee told a deputy he decided to take pictures at the pool for his Snapchat account, the report said.
The employee said a woman walked in front of him while he was taking a picture, and that a short time later, her fiance put him in a headlock and punched him in the face, the report said.
Once a deputy arrived, the man who punched the employee said he and his fiancee were getting food at the club's bar when she told him the employee had taken a picture of her.
The man admitted he had grabbed the employee and punched him because he was afraid more pictures of women would be taken.
During the altercation, the man's fiancee told the deputy the employee dropped his phone. When she picked it up, the report said, she saw pictures of three women, including herself, in bikinis.
The woman turned the phone over to other employees who had stepped in to stop the fight.
Another witness told the deputy he had seen the employee taking pictures of women earlier that day.
During a follow-up interview with the employee, the report said no photos of women were found on the phone. However, the employee said he had taken several pictures of women by the pool, but deleted them because he was scared he might get in trouble, the report said.
No charges were filed.
